Never ask a pregnant woman how she is doing!!!!!!
Ok. Everyone knows that there are some societal and cultural norms that surround this question. Mainly, 99.9% of the time, when someone asks you how you’re doing, they really don’t care. They are just being polite. It should go a little something like this:
“How are you doing?”
“I’m doing great! How are you?”
“I’m fine, thanks for asking.”
You’ve probably engaged in this little exchange about a billion times in your life. As have I. Unfortunately, I seem to have lost the ability to answer this question in the typical, socially acceptable way. No matter who asks me. The cashier at the grocery store??? Sure!! I just know that she wants to hear all about my heart burn and lower back pain. The teller at the bank? Well, she’s just DYING to know all about my last prenatal visit. It’s almost like I’m having an out of body experience. I can hear myself telling perfect strangers things about my body that no one should have to listen to but I can’t seem to shut myself up. I have decided that I’m really no longer fit to go out in public without the supervision of my husband. I really hope that this little quirk goes away after my baby is born! I would really like to be able to interact with humanity in a normal manner again!!
